Okotoks is a thriving community with a population upward of 30,000 residents and a short drive (approximately 15 minutes) south of Calgary. It is a wonderful family friendly town with amenities galore. Okotoks was established as a Town in 1904 and the name comes from the Blackfoot First Nation word for rock. There is speculation the name was given to the area because of the safe rocky river crossings on the Sheep River or The Big Rock – one of the Largest Glacial Erratics found west of Okotoks town site.
